Each treatment should be spaced apart by 4-6 weeks
Each treatment costs $100 or more - prices vary a lot by area of the country and even from salon to salon. I would highly recommend searching online for sales before making an appointment
Each treatment takes between 15 minutes and 1 hour depending on the size of the area being treated. A smaller area like the underarms should be very fast - 15 minutes max.

What to expect during an individual treatment:

Before beginning, you will be given goggles to wear
The laser technician might also apply a topical anesthetic before the treatment begins. This is generally not necessary because the pain is almost non-existent in most cases. However, if you have very sensitive skin you might want to pursue this option.
The laser technician will hold a hand-held laser to your skin. The part of the device that actually touches your skin is pretty small - probably about the size of a half dollar.
When the laser is activated, a beam of heat will damage the hair follicle
The treatment is pretty fast compared to other methods of permanent hair removal like electrolysis

What to expect after a treatment:

There is virtually no downtime with a laser treatment so you can immediately return to you daily activities (as long as they do not involve intense sun exposure on the area that was treated)
There may be a small amount of redness following a treatment, but nothing too noticeable
Avoid sun exposure on the treated area for a week or two following the treatment
Handle the treated area gently for a week following the treatment - no waxing, no strong exfoliation, etc.

Although electrolysis is great for removing facial and body hair there are WARNINGS! Do not use it on ear or nose hairs and do not use electrolysis to remove hair from a mole. If you have some kind of electronic device in your body such as a pacemaker, do not use electrolysis at all! By the way, there are kits available so you can do it in the comfort of your home.

Now on to the second system of permanent hair removal which is using a laser to removal the unwanted hair. The laser process works by using a pulsating,intense laser beam light that passes through the skin targeting the dark pigment in the hair which is called melanin. FYI,melanin is the substance that gives the hair its color. It also gives the skin and the iris of the eyes its color. When the laser beam hits the hair follicle, the laser destroys the hair follicle immediately. It will normally takes a few sessions to permanently prevent the the hair from growing back in that particular area. The pain associated with the laser technique is in the comfortable range. There are no kits available to laser your hair in the comfort of your home. Using laser to remove hair should only be done by a qualified professional.

Now on to the cost. It will depend one factor. And that factor is how much hair needs to be removed. The more hair the more treatments. It will normally cost more to have the electrolysis performed rather than the laser procedure. The reason being is that although the per treatment cost is higher when using laser, the electrolysis method will take more treatments to become completely hair-free than if you were to use laser. Now of course it will be a whole lot cheaper than laser if you are using the electrolysis home kit product.
